The conference seeks submissions presenting scientific innovations in all practical and theoretical aspects of computer and communications security and privacy. Papers should demonstrate their real-world impacts. Theoretic papers are expected to make a convincing case for the relevance of their techniques and findings to secure systems.
Paper Submission Information
Submissions must be received before Tuesday, May 8, 2018 8:59 PM PDT (UTC-7), through the site https://ccs18.hotcrp.com/. Submitted papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal, conference, or workshop. All submissions should be properly anonymized and avoid obvious self-references.
All submitted papers will be evaluated based upon their scientific merits, particularly their importance to computer and communications security and privacy, novelty, quality of execution and presentation. For papers that might raise ethical concerns, authors are expected to convince reviewers that proper procedures (such as IRB approval) have been followed and due diligence has been made to minimize potential harm. The review process will be carried out in two phases and authors will have an opportunity to respond to the first-phrase review.
Authors of accepted papers must ensure that their papers will be presented at the conference. At least one main (non-student) conference registration is mandatory for each accepted paper.
Paper Format
Submissions must be single PDF files, no more than 12 pages in double-column ACM format (see https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template, with a simpler version here: https://github.com/acmccs/format), excluding bibliography, well-marked appendices and supplementary material. Note that reviewers are not required to read any supplementary material, which however may include reviews from prior submissions and responses to them.
All submissions must be intelligible and complete without supplementary material. Authors should not play tricks on the already very dense ACM paper format or move key components of papers (e.g., related work) to appendices. Submissions not following the format guideline or anonymization requirements will be returned without review.
Conflicts of Interest
The conference requires cooperation from both authors and program committee members to ensure a fair review process. For this purpose, authors must report all program committee members who may not be able to provide an unbiased review. Such conflicts include strong personal or professional relationships such as advisor/ advisee, members of the same organization, and close collaborators (for example, recent co-authors). More generally, anyone will be considered in conflict if a reasonable person would question the individual as an impartial reviewer, once relevant information is given. The program co-chairs reserve the right to request a more specific description of a conflict-of-interest declaration from authors.
Program committee members who have a conflict of interest with a paper, including program co-chairs, will be excluded from evaluation and discussion of the paper. Since submissions are anonymous to reviewers, it is important for authors to identify those in conflict. In the case of a program co-chair, the other co-chair who does not have conflicts will be responsible for managing that paper. When both chairs are in conflict, a committee member will be appointed to handle the paper. Program co-chairs are not allowed to be authors or co-authors of any submissions.
